Plaid Friday

So today was Plaid Friday, an event to support local business and that Mill No 5 was holding. We also went downtown Lowell and bought some Thai Tea from Little Delights Baker and I bought a cool sweater from Humanity Boutique! We found some really cool vintage pieces from Serpentine Books & Collectibles, two Time magazines, one from September 4, 1939 featuring Winston Churchill and the other from June 9, 1941 featuring Benito Mussolini, Ken the owner had some awesome pieces to note, a Cosmopolitan Magazine from 1889 ¬†(AWESOME), many historical books and magazines from all over, many religious books, old bottles including a Heinz Ketchup bottle from the early 1900’s. It was a really cool, unique shop right within Mill No. 5 on Jackson St in Lowell. We also went to Red Antler Apothecary where I stocked up on soap and lip balm, if you haven’t seen their new, larger set up go and check them out. We stopped at Coffee & Cotton and I got one of their amazing iced teas! I always …

Time Out Cafe & Eatery-Downtown Lowell

I had heard of this place before but never had the opportunity to eat here. Time Out Cafe & Eatery is located right on Merrimack St in Downtown Lowell like many other wonderful restaurants they have a nice chill spot to eat wonderful food and to relax. They have a variety of food and drinks but I had their wonderfully authentic Hispanic food. Everything from Mofongo to Arroz con Gandules. To give you all a little history lesson, Mofongo is a fried-plantain based dish , Afro-Puerto Rican in origin with clear roots in the West African Fufu. Typically its made of mashed fried green plantains, garlic, olive oil, chicharron, and broth. Arroz con Gandules is Rice with Pigeon peas. These have always been my preference rather than just regular green peas. I have to say that Time Out made these extremely well and the flavor of the Mofongo brought me back to my Puerto Rican roots. Their lemonade and Passion fruit juice were wonderful. I cant wait to go back and try more of their …

Humanity Boutique

I have been wanting to do this blog post for a long time now, and I am so excited that I finally had the chance to do this. For several years a boutique in Downtown Lowell has had a special place in my heart and when I heard a new owner had taken over I had to meet her and I had to interview her. Because of this blog that I run I have had the opportunity to meet so many people and experience so many different aspects of everyday living. I want to give as much as I am given and more and I am just enormously proud of what this extremely intelligent and vivacious woman has done with Humanity and I hope you all enjoy the time I spent with her, the pictures we took and the conversation we had about all things Humanity! I was feeling super confident and carefree in these pictures below! Let me introduce to you Ani V. She is the owner of Humanity Boutique, funny, smart, outgoing, intelligent, …
