Gormley’s Cafe – Lowell, MA

Gormley’s Cafe reopened under new ownership this past February. I had never been there before and I was anxious to try it, but I kept missing the opportunity until this weekend.

Located on E. Merrimack Street in Lowell right outside of downtown, Gormley’s Cafe has a 1950’s diner vibe going with an eclectic mix of artwork; some from local artist like Flourish Cafe and other vintage pieces. The second you walk in you feel welcomed and the feel is an all around clean and fresh atmosphere.

After yesterday’s visit with my husband, I also came today with friends because I just can’t get enough of their amazing food. With Joanne and Craig at the helm of this place, they are sure to be around for years to come. What a welcome addition to Lowell; fresh food, just right prices, incredible specials and two lovely individuals that get what Lowell is about.

Yesterdays’ meal consisted of the Duck Eggs Benedict with Homefries and a blueberry pancake. The eggs benny consisted of a Portuguese sweet roll, topped with bacon, a duck egg, and homemade hollandaise sauce. Absolutely incredible. Just the right flavors throughout and the sweet roll with the savory bacon set the dish off.

The Blueberry pancake was slightly crispy around the edges and full to the brim with fresh blueberries. Topped with 100% maple syrup it made for the perfect, sweet finish to an already incredible breakfast. Roose had the “Boomlette” which according to the menu is “Everything but the kitchen sink” he loved it! 🙂

As we were leaving yesterday, Craig the Chef let me know I should try the corned beef hash next time I came in, I took that to heart and tried it today and OH.MY.GOD (yes that good) I will go there just for this, it is incredible, flavorful perfection. I also tried my friends Heath bar pancakes which were delectable and I also had french toast with homemade whipped cream. Best french toast I have had in a long time.
