Four Things You Need to know about Portsmouth

Portsmouth is one of those towns you can get lost in. There is so much to see, do and TONS to eat. I have done lighthouse boat tours, some local shopping, walked until my legs hurt and eaten until my belly’s full. Portsmouth is just that kind of town where you just feel welcome in and can continue to explore every time you go back. Daycations are easy in New England, we have so much all around us and often we forget how much we have at our disposal. Portsmouth, NH is one of these great towns you can explore in a day, eat and then turn around and be home in an hour. When you have a day off, you have got to use it well and last Friday was no exception. Myself and a couple friends( a local artist and boutique owner) got an early start and headed up to explore: and what a day full of good eats and adventure it was!

  1. Me & Ollie’s Bakery & Cafe

Our first stop of the day was an adorable diner inspired spot. We all bought latte’s and their fresh apple cider donuts, played some trivia and just had a wonderful time. Can’t wait to go back for their food because it literally smelled like heaven the entire time we were there.

Absolutely loved the outside 🙂

Ordering some goodies

Picture perfect about to play some trivia 🙂

These were warm and delicious

This caramel sauce was so yummy

2. STREET, Eat/Drink 360

Next we stopped at this spot for lunch and we were so blown away by the atmosphere, drinks and food. So many options and every single one was delicious. I remember biting into the dumplings and literally feeling like everything around me had stopped( maybe that was just the tequila talking) but still this place is one of my fave locations in Portsmouth and I literally cannot wait to go back and eat some more of their mind boggling food.

Our drinks: Bangkok Pink, El Mango & Sparkly Unicorn

Deep in conversation while waiting for our food

Subarashii: Spicy fries w/ Scallion Mayo & Kimchee ketchup on the side

Cemita: Chicken Thigh, avocado, Mexican fried cheese, cilantro, & chipotle mayo

Their famous Curry Fries:Drizzled with Curry Mayo w/ Curry Ketchup

Dumplings Con Pow: Sauteed pork dumplings & cauliflower w/ Miso-Sriracha butter ( GASP)

Empanada: Spiced beef w/ Peruvian Lime sauce

What About Cobb: Salad with all the fixins’

Literally my face the whole time 🙂

In between these spots and the next ones we went to, we did some shopping downtown Portsmouth at  local boutiques and some bookstores. Everything is so close together downtown: such a walkable city.

3. La Maison Navarre

I had been here before and absolutely loved it. Their macarons, brioche and other pastries are so delicious. Plus their tea was perfect after all that eating 🙂

They have both regular macarons & ice cream filled ( OMG)

We enjoyed our time here 🙂

4. Portsmouth Book & Bar

I got lost in this place for a bit, its a library where you can find a nook and read or you can grab a bite to eat and drink while talking with friends. This is a gem in Portsmouth and was so happy I was able to visit.

LOVE the outside

These books were in the window seat I found 🙂

I was exploring the history & architecture section

Ended our daycation with the Ploughmans Platter & Artichoke/Spinach dip- DELISH

Go on that vacation, drive an hour ( or five) to see that place you’ve been wanting to see and experience everything you can in the time you have. Enjoy your life.

Living it up,

Life as a Maven
