A Taste of Venezuela-Galeria Cafe

I am one of those people that consistently browses to find new places to drink coffee, eat food and enjoy some new atmosphere. When I find a new place where I live I am thoroughly happy and always try to go as soon as I can to see what it’s all about.

Galeria Cafe located on Merrimack St right outside of Downtown Lowell is a warm, inviting place where you can enjoy some good coffee, listen to some wonderfully authentic Venezuelan music and have some really good pastries and food.

When we went yesterday, we walked in on live music being played by three gentleman, two guitars and one harp…yes a harp. It was a glorious sound and relaxing as we waited for our food to be ready. When the wonderful woman who helped us out knew I was Puerto Rican she suggested I try their Sancocho. I immediately said yes because I hadn’t had it in over 15 years since I was a little girl sitting in my Abuela’s kitchen.

Roosevelt ordered a hamburger Venezuelan style and we ordered  fresh fruit juices; Passion Fruit or “Maracuya” and Mango Juice.

All of their pastries and food are homemade and we ordered Upside Down Pineapple Cake along with a Honey Cinnamon Latte and Vanilla Latte.

Everything was top notch, when I took my first bite of the Sancocho I was transported back in time and felt like I as a little girl all over again. Its wonderful for memories to be come flooding back when you eat really authentic food. The burger was very good as well and perfectly cooked and they had this wonderful condiment that had cilantro and avocado with a few other things.

The cake was perfection and the latte’s perfectly complimented the flavors of the cake.

I think this is going to be one of my new homes in Lowell and I am so glad they are here.
