5 Ways to Effortlessly Transition from Summer to Fall Style

“August is like the Sunday of Summer”

It’s hard to believe it is already the end of August and the start of Pumpkin everything is everywhere. This summer seemed to dash by, and while filled with lots of adventures and memories still seemed too short. While it is still warm out there, the hints of fall are starting to show themselves with the cooler nights, random leaves turning colors and back to school shopping. I myself really enjoyed myself fashion wise this summer. I didn’t write nearly enough about fashion or what I was wearing but the colors, patterns, shoes were giving me life!

Sometimes it is a bit hard to transition through the seasons especially when you live somewhere like new England where every day is a different story. One day can be 50 degrees and the next can be 80- literally. It is important, especially towards the end of summer to have outfits you can quickly shift that will make you feel comfortable in warm or cool temperatures.  I will say i refuse to wear only closed shoes until I absolutely have to, I am indeed one of those people wearing sandals throughout September or as long as i can handle it. These outfits can either be used for warm days and also for cooler nights. Light jackets or blazers are key in these types of situations although you could throw a light cardigan over them as well.

If it becomes too warm you can then take off a layer and be nice and cool without worrying about giving up your look. Or add something on to cozy up again. Either way, each of these looks gives you a different way to transition and works really well for either season.

  • Tip 1 | Add Layers

You can add layers as I mentioned above such as jackets, cardigans or a shawl to outfits that consist of tank tops or crop tops to add some warmth but yet quickly shed them if they become too hot.

Outfit Deets:

  1. Crop | Humanity Style
  2. Denim | Universal thread | Target
  3. Faux Leather Jacket | JC Penney
  4. Shoes | Target
  • Tip 2 | Wear all the Jumpsuits

They offer the perfect versatility you need when trying to choose an outfit for a day that may be both hot and cold. If you go with a longer pant jumpsuit all you need is to throw something on top and voila! Also pops of dark but rich colors are a great way to transition to fall but still keep the bold colors you’ve been using all summer. This red clutch offers that without overpowering the outfit.

Outfit Deets:

  1. Jumpsuit + Clutch | Humanity Style
  2. Sandals | Marshalls

Tip 3 | Wear light fabrics

Sometimes you can wear a long sleeve shirt or three quarter length sleeve shirt and still be cool. Making sure you are wearing the right fabrics can make you all the more comfortable in whatever weather you may be faced with.

Outfit Deets:

  1. Mustard Top + Handbag | Humanity Style
  2. Slacks + Sandals | Marshalls

Tip 4 | Long Shorts or Culottes are a girl’s best friend

Pants that aren’t pants are the best. Why do I say that? Well by giving you some room to breathe and some air they can be used perfectly for either a warmer or colder situation. Gaucho pants, Bermuda shorts, culottes etc…

Outfit Deets:

  1. Clutch + Accessories + Gaucho Pants | Humanity Style
  2. Pineapple Top | Marshalls

Tip 5 | Don’t give up bold colors + Experiment with Patterns

One thing you shouldn’t give up just because we are soon changing seasons is COLOR. Use that clutch, wear that yellow, utilize patterns and NEVER give up denim 🙂

These are the ways I’m embracing this transition into fall and I hope you will join me by experimenting with some new looks. Surprise yourself!

Experiment and be Bold,

  1. Your outfits are so cute – I’m glad you had fun this summer! And wow, crazy weather you have there! All we do here is complain about heat, haha – it’s a constant during the summer!

    1. Yeah our weather is pretty insane. Right now its about 80-90 degrees during the day and then like 60-70 at night 🙂

  2. YES to layering! It’s so important, especially during those days when it’s freezing in the morning and boiling in the afternoon!

    1. EXACTLY! So agreed!

  3. I live in Los Angeles so it won’t be “cold” here until late September or October, but the evenings do tend to be a bit chilly. I love wearing layers so I can throw on a jacket at night or even a long sleeve top in a light fabric so I can still be cool when it’s warm during the day, but also have my arms covered in the cooler evenings!

    Thanks for sharing! x
