Last night was my company Christmas party, we went to a place called 29 Sudbury in Sudbury, MA. Throughout the night as Hors d’oeuvre were passed around and I ate like a maniac it got me thinking about fresh ingredients, and different combinations you can play with.
Yes I do think about cooking when I eat at Resturants I can’t be the only one who does this. Also I am not a picky person but there are still a couple things I don’t particularly like, mushrooms being one of them but last night I changed my mind.
Items passed around were:
- Lamb Lollipops (drizzled with a Sweet Red Wine reduction)
- Mushroom Pizza with Arugula
- Artichoke Heart Pizza
- Tomato Bruschetta
- Mushroom Bruschetta
- Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail
- Chicken Satay
Each item was perfectly seasoned, perfectly done and the flair in which they were presented was spectacular. This got me thinking even if there are certain things we don’t like depending on the way they are presented or seasoned it can change your perception. Because perception is important no? We use our senses to distinguish what something may be like.
I am going to start experimenting with some fresh ingredients this weekend and post up my findings if you have any suggestions please put them in the comments section and let me know.
Things I’m thinking about are:
- Fresh Basil
- Fresh Sage
- Artichokes
- Fresh Mushrooms
- Arugula
- Lamb
- Zuchinni
- Squash
- Garlic
- Variety of Cheeses
- Red and White Wine Reductions
Keep that candle burning,
Timna
