Saigon Noodles – Manchester, NH

On a recent adventure, I stumbled upon this Pho place that literally lit up my day. Unassuming on the outside, you don’t immediately think this is going to be on of the most heart and soul warming lunches you will eat. It was that and more and I wanted to share my experience with you all. When we arrived, the place was empty and our waitress who also seems to be the owner quickly got us menus and served us artichoke tea. Artichoke tea? Yes and on first sip, I was in heaven. She had put fresh ginger in it and somehow the mix made it taste like gingerbread cookies, I don’t know why but it did. Perfect Artichoke tea The menu is small, one page and mostly all Pho choices ranging from vegetable to meat Pho’s, a few appetizers and a few drinks. We decided on the eggrolls, and when they were served to us she said the proper way was to wrap the lettuce around the roll and dip it in the sauce. …

Gormley’s Cafe – Lowell, MA

Gormley’s Cafe reopened under new ownership this past February. I had never been there before and I was anxious to try it, but I kept missing the opportunity until this weekend. Located on E. Merrimack Street in Lowell right outside of downtown, Gormley’s Cafe has a 1950’s diner vibe going with an eclectic mix of artwork; some from local artist like Flourish Cafe and other vintage pieces. The second you walk in you feel welcomed and the feel is an all around clean and fresh atmosphere. After yesterday’s visit with my husband, I also came today with friends because I just can’t get enough of their amazing food. With Joanne and Craig at the helm of this place, they are sure to be around for years to come. What a welcome addition to Lowell; fresh food, just right prices, incredible specials and two lovely individuals that get what Lowell is about. Yesterdays’ meal consisted of the Duck Eggs Benedict with Homefries and a blueberry pancake. The eggs benny consisted of a Portuguese sweet roll, topped with bacon, …

NoLo Bistro & Bar at Stonehedge Inn & Spa – Tyngsboro, MA

It was my birthday on Monday and we went to NoLo Bistro & Bar which is at Stonegedge Inn & Spa in Tyngsboro, MA. This is a beautiful area and the Inn just recently underwent a large renovation project which included a revamping of the eatery. I was excited to try it and I was not disappointed. When you drive into the Inn you get this feeling of total privacy and seclusion even though its right off of the Boulevard.  Walking in, seeing the ambient lighting and cozy tables as well as modern, contemporary decor made me feel  at home.  We were seated at a nice table near the window that had a small candle that created a lovely romantic atmosphere. After perusing their extensive wine list, I settled on a 2014 Selbach Riesling. It was a great choice for someone like me who loves white wine but likes to mix it up a bit. It had a fruity, citrus flavor and was a perfect compliment to the rest of the meal. For the appetizer …

Wham’s Cafe – Lowell, MA

I passed by this gem many times and finally dropped by this past Saturday afternoon. Nestled on a corner of Lakeview and Aiken Wham’s Cafe has an upbeat but homey vibe. The way the menu works is that they have different specials every day but also have staples they sell every day.  Lucky us that when we went the special of the day was Beef Stew with either Chapati, a type of flatbread or Coconut Rice. I got the Chapati and Roose got the Coconut rice, both were outstanding. The Chapati was thick, but not overly heavy, and full of flavor with just a hint of sweetness. The coconut rice was perfectly cooked with an abundance of coconut flavor. I put some of the rice in the stew and it was heavenly. We also ordered some samosas that were just a bit spicy and full of flavor. Each bite hit my palate in different ways and made me want more. Afterwards to finish off my Chapati I ordered some lattes, these were incredibly good, some …

Gustazo Cuban Restaurant & Cafe – Waltham, MA

This past weekend me and Roosevelt ate at this incredible Cuban restaurant in Waltham. I had bookmarked it a while ago and we had never gotten around to going. On Saturday night we decided to drive down and try Gustazo Cuban Restaurant & Cafe and so glad we did. It was worth the wait and the trip. A small cafe nestled into downtown Waltham on Main Street, you get the hustle and bustle while feeling transported somewhere else entirely. With an amazing wall of art and tables styled with old style art and newspaper elements I felt like I was on an island eating Cuban food directly from the kitchen of a home grown cook. Every dish was flavorful and rich with distinct flavors. With a modern flair, Gustazo takes Cuban Cuisine into another dimension and introduces flavors to your palate you didn’t know could exist. With a mixture of small plates/tapas which includes both vegetarian and meat options along with large plates, the options make it harder to choose what you want to eat.Make …

Simply Khmer-Lowell, MA

I’ve never had Cambodian food, and what better day to try it than the Cambodian, Laos & Thai New Year yesterday? My friend Sarin and I met up at Simply Khmer in Lowell and proceeded to order a variety of dishes. While I loved all of them except one, I was glad to have an entry into Cambodian Cuisine and enter a new food world. I am pretty open to try different foods, flavors etc, at least once anyway. Their menu was diverse and while I wanted to order more things, our stomachs decided on a couple appetizers and then a couple main dishes which we shared family style. Nam Jein: Ground Chicken, Taro, Carrot, Sweet Potato & Onion I really liked these, I had never had Taro before and I really loved the texture of it. It reminded me of the Spanish style Yucca, but smooth instead of grainy. The flavors were very good. Kruoch Bumporng: Deep fried marinated Quail served with fresh lime and black pepper First time also having Quail (see a pattern…) …

Pig Tale Restaurant Nashua, NH

Pig Tale Restaurant in Nashua, NH sits on Amherst Street in a cozy, energetic nook of the plaza there. Bustling with people and filled with aromatic smells it is the place to go for good eats and great service. I had been going back and forth on Twitter with them about food (of course) that I posted up and what my favorites were. I had heard of them before through a friend who said I should try them and I decided to head up on Friday after a long week. It was the perfect choice and in addition to trying a couple appetizers, their pasta was phenomenal and flavorful. I was impressed by the quality of the food, and liked that the pasta portions were just enough and not overwhelming. The flavors of the appetizers were addicting; from the Wings with a Memphis dry rub to the Deviled Eggs with Bacon. The presentation was also beautiful of each dish and made my mouth water. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their …

The Corner Cafe-Lowell, MA

Saturdays and Sundays are the days we go out and find breakfast places. Whether we go to our favorites or find new favorites it has been a thing since the beginning of this year and I love it. Breakfast/Brunch is one of my favorite meals of the day, but let’s be real. . . every meal is my favorite!!! :):):) The Corner Cafe has been open since February and it popped up on my search today when I was looking for spots to eat. I am so glad we found this spot, the food was amazing, the service excellent and the ambiance warm & welcoming. We will definitely be back. Our waitress Christina was super nice and invited us to the Grand opening which is tomorrow April 4th, so if you are around check it out.  I told her I was a local blogger and was excited about eating here. Being a food blogger, while making me work out so much more is fun because I meet all sorts of different people and I become an …

Grassfields Food & Spirits- Andover, MA

On Saturday before going to see a movie myself, Roose and friends decided we wanted to have a good meal before heading to the theater. Since I was recovering from a stomach bug, I was still not feeling 100%. The only cuisines that sounded remotely appetizing were Seafood or American Grill style which if you know me is so unlike me 🙁 . We settled on Grassfields Food & Spirits which is located right on Main St in Andover. We waited about 15 minutes to get seated and our waitress came right over once we were seated to take our drink orders. This is where it became slightly problematic, three out of the four of us ordered waters, and then one juice order. The waters came pretty quickly, but the juice didn’t arrive until after we had received our appetizer. Our waitress brought us the complimentary bread, once we had ordered the appetizer, this was very good. Nice and fluffy. The appetizer ordered was the Coconut Crusted Shrimp, with a Citrus Sauce. These were phenomenal, order …

Donut Shack- Lowell, MA

I woke up this past Sunday morning completely unaware that anything drastic had taken place, until I went to my Facebook page and saw a post by the shop owner from Mill No. 5.  A Doughnut post about an apple doughnut, which at first I thought could be from Top Donut or some other random chain doughnut shop in Lowell. No, it was from Donut Shack, a tiny shop located on Westford, St in Lowell, a place I have lived around the corner from for almost seven years and a place that is now near and dear to my heart because of the fresh, fluffy donuts I happened to have on this past Sunday. I ran to the shop at about 10:15 fearing there would be no donuts left, because their hours are 5-11:30 am. As soon as I walked in , five or so people walked in behind me. I ordered a dozen, and told the woman behind the corner to give me a mix of everything. She did and as I paid and walked …
