Hi, I’m Timna!
The word Maven comes from Yiddish, rooted in the Hebrew word mevin (מבין), meaning “one who understands.” To me, a Maven is someone who gathers and shares knowledge—and that’s exactly what I aim to do here. Whether it’s a new restaurant, a hidden gem in town, or a little burst of joy from an everyday adventure, I want to pass that energy and insight on to you.
I started this journey in Lowell, Massachusetts, my home for nearly 18 years. Over time, I’ve watched the city transform into a vibrant community rich in culture, filled with exciting new restaurants, unique shops, and beautiful spaces—all while honoring its Mill City history. My amazing partner and I have spent years exploring not just Lowell, but hidden treasures throughout Massachusetts, including the Merrimack Valley, Boston, central Massachusetts and more. From cozy Colombian eateries to funky thrift stores and artsy cafés, there’s always something new around the corner.
I believe food is one of the purest, most joyful ways to connect with people. It tells stories, builds bridges, and brings people together. I love sharing those experiences with you—whether I’m dining locally or traveling far from home.
Through this blog, I hope to spark a sense of adventure, share authentic recommendations, and offer a little joy and inspiration. Expect everything from restaurant finds and boutique fashion picks to fun day trips and spontaneous discoveries.
Let’s explore together. Let’s find the fun, the flavor, and the stories worth sharing.
Adventuring on,
Timna

Hi Timma
Thanks for writing your piece about Lawrence. Even I who has lived in zlawrence since 1991 didn’t know of one of the places you featured in your piece.
I want to let you know that Lawrencr is also the city that has been celebrating an International Book Fair now for thirteen years in October for three consecutive days. Last year we honored writers, poets and artists from Puerto Rico whether from the Island or the PR Diaspora in USA. This year we are honoring Peru. The Book Fair will be celebrated from October 18-20, 2019.
It would be great if we could work in at least one piece about it in your blog.
My name is Dr. Dolores Calaf and my email is Dolores.calaf@verizon.net, consultant to the International Book Fair as well as Professor at Endicott and Urban College if Boston
Looking forward to share ideas with you
Dolores
