Donuts.

dough·nut
ˈdōˌnət/
noun
plural noun: donuts
  1. a small fried cake of sweetened dough, typically in the shape of a ball or ring.

Donuts speak for themselves if done properly. I have never had an “artisanal” doughnut. Unfortunately I had the pleasure of only eating Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme donuts. They are pretty dull and lifeless. So I had heard about two places in particular that sold these wonderful legends of donuts, so this past weekend along with my Museum adventures and Boston Public Market adventures I decided I would have my fill of the donuts. Boy did I ever.

First stop was Saturday at Union Square Donuts within Boston Public Market and there weren’t too many flavors left but we still managed to get three of them and shared them.

Lemon Glazed: Soft, lightly sweet, slightly tart. Pretty good

Belgian Dark Chocolate: Very heavy, chocolate was very thick on the top of the doughnut. Slightly unbalanced flavor

Brown Butter Hazelnut Crunch: My favorite of the three, buttery, crispy, perfectly sweet and fluffy.

Overall donuts were good. 3 out of 5

Next stop was Sunday at Blackbird Doughnuts on Tremont St. in Boston, MA. They had a lot more flavors available even though it was towards end of the day.

Wild Berry Stack (doughnut holes): Fluffy and fruity.

Cinnamon Sugar Stack: Perfect combo of cinnamon and sugar in a small package

Vanilla Glaze: Subtle vanilla flavor, thick and fluffy doughnut

Valentine Special Raspbery Glazed Donut: Real raspberry flavor , perfect tart flavor against sweet of the doughnut

Lemon Honey Yogurt: Perfection. Perfectly tart and sweet, thick doughnut. Favorite

Overall my favorite of the two places. 4.5 out of 5

There are many more places to try and I can’t wait to try them. For now I need to work on my waistline. 🙂 🙂

Enjoy life,

Timna
