Offbeet Compost – The Foundation Mixer

Collaborations between small businesses, myself &  The Foundation Mixer have been happening on a wider scale this year,  collaborations I am proud to be part of and keep learning from. Last week we all had the pleasure to not only learn about a local compost company but we were all introduced to sunrun a solar energy company who sponsored the event. Mandarin Asian Bistro was our wonderful host and provided snacks for us during the event. Check them out for live music on the weekends and great food and drinks. OffBeet Compost, founded by Kesiah Bascom is the edgy, eco-friendly type company I find myself loving more of every day. Along with Kesiah, Derrick Jamison, the Operations Manager of OffBeet provide composting capabilities to local business (including restaurants) and individuals. During this event we learned of the hard work and passion that goes behind a company like this, which in turn keeps our environment clean and recycles back what we don’t use for better sustainability. I look forward to learning more about how I can compost …

Wine & Connections

Last month’s mixer hosted by The Foundation Mixer and Tutto Bene Wine & Cheese Cellars was inspiring. Conversation accompanied by good wine is always a good mix and I saw many new faces this time. Over the course of the last few months, I can personally say that the mixers have been collaborative and I have been able to meet many new people. The very premise of mixers is to connect with people outside of your realm of comfort, it allows you to step outside your box and find new venues for your personal entrepreneurial goals or just to meet new people. These mixers also promote local business and one thing I truly appreciate is the ability talk about what I do and hear what others do in these local settings. Tutto Bene was no exception; with a Sommelier on site talking to us about the different wines we were tasting and an incredible assortment of wines from all over the world it was the perfect spot for a mixer. We had Presceia Cooper, Director …

Creativity Meets Connection

“Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable” – William Pollard The Foundation Mixer brought us all together once again last week for the second part of their art series connection events. This time the focus was on GiveWave Studios owned by a friend and colleague of ours . With a small business focused on creativity and design it has thrived over the last year and half into the costume and accessories go to for all your creative needs. GiveWave Studios is based out of Lowell Makes, a Makerspace based in Lowell, MA. This is an environment where creativity takes free reign and individuals who have a membership can do everything from woodworking to 3D printing. This is the perfect place to start a business based on creative design and has been the spot for people to come out and experience on their own. During this particular mixer, we were given a tour of Lowell Makes …

The Art of Connection

This particular connection event hosted by The Foundation Mixer was a breath of a fresh air. Located in the ALL (Arts League of Lowell) Gallery right outside of downtown we were surrounded by different works from Artists from every part of Lowell many of which were breathtaking. We were encouraged to discuss, interact and help each other with ideas- which was uplifting for me because of how I create. My very creative force comes from interacting with people, businesses, restaurants, and others in the community. Bobby Tugbiyele Co-Founder- Sharing a few words Mingling in this gorgeous location Two small business owners: Warlene & Barbara Aleksandra Tugbiyele talking to us about the amazing raffle! Something that set this event apart from others was our special speaker Andreina Veira founder and CEO of VAS (Veira Admin Solutions) – a back office support for many different clients. As she spoke to us she encouraged us to not let the negativity that can sometimes surround us all push us down and ruin our dreams. Dreams do not become reality unless you work hard …

Soulful Connections

“The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we the musicians, are the messengers.” -Roy Ayers Music is an essence that binds people together. When Bobby Tugbiyele Co-Founder of the Foundation Mixer brought in Lydia Harrell a beautiful soul, to perform for the second event of the year he knew what he was doing. Together with her soulful vibes and jazz filled momentum the room was brought together. Inspired by the surroundings, people were able to talk about their thoughts and ideas on how to make their community, business endeavors, and lives thrive. Anytime you have people from all different parts of a community, with different ideas you get this genuine vibe that creates progress. We all want to move in the right direction but we don’t always have the tools ourselves to make this happen. By having events like these that focus on growth, connection, and people, it instills a sense of belonging and satisfaction that you are working towards the good of your fellow neighbor, your community, …
