Church St. Coffee at Connector Cafe & Grill

I had the opportunity to check out an incredible pop up this past weekend at Connector Cafe & Grill a local favorite cafe of mine. As you all know by now coffee is my go to for just about anything, not only does it give me a push to start my day off right but I really just love the flavors of coffee and always look for different kinds I can check out. Church St. Coffee Company specializes in cold brew coffee & nitro cold brew coffee – what is cold brew you may ask? Well it’s coffee that is never exposed to heat and the steeping process is a bit different than a normal hot brew. Denis Toomey, owner and founder of Church St. explained to me how it works, what they do with their own coffee, where it comes from and then of course I had several samples and had a full cup of their original brew. For a little history, Church St. started back in 2015 and was named after a street …

Spicy Noodle Challenge- Twelve Hours

Twelve Hours in Brighton, MA is one of my favorite restaurants and ever since I had been there this Spring I had been wanting to go back. After seeing them post about a mega spicy dish they have on Instagram I decided to challenge myself to try to eat it. I live streamed it on IG and did my best but in the end it conquered me. It’s not very often I write twice about restaurants unless I have such unique dining experiences that I just have to- which in this case I did. This time we brought some friends and we ordered lots of appetizers, and just had such a pleasant meal. Although the spicy noodles conquered my tastebuds and I everything else was incredible, fresh and so tasty. Twelve Hours redefines Asian Fusion by providing unique mash-ups with traditional food dishes and they keep exciting your tastebuds. From Blueberry Crab Rangoons (remember those from last time) to Curry Duck & Avocado you are sure to find something to excite the senses and enjoy …

Go Nuts for Donuts

“You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy donuts and that’s kind of the same thing.” I will never tire of writing about donuts and hopefully, you all will never tire of hearing about them and going on your own little adventures. I had the pleasure of going on a #doughnutadventure with my best friend this past Monday and somehow we made it through five doughnut shops. From small homegrown mom & pop shops to artisanal, newer shops we tried all sorts of donuts. While in my own life I try to be as healthy as possible, I am a strong believer in splurging and enjoying the things you love. That just happens to be food for me (really anything about life) and every once in a while I love going on an adventure like this to check out what the world of sweets is doing now and what new flavor concoctions they’ve made. Here in Lowell, we have our very own Donut Shack which should be famous as far as I am concerned because …

Short Stop Cafe – Bedford, MA

With the aroma of freshly baked Almond croissants in my mind, I want to share with you this lovely new cafe that just opened up in Bedford a little over a month ago. Located on Loomis St in the new plaza, this cafe has welcomed me with open arms as I enjoy their delicious sandwiches, waffles, and drinks. Their specialty are “Liege Waffles” which are a type of Belgian waffle and you can have them with various toppings. I am not sorry to say I have had tried several different variations of the regular size waffles as well as the mini waffles that have predetermined toppings. For the regular waffles, you can choose any variation of jam, fruit, whipped cream, chocolate or go the savory route with a “Bacon, Avocado, Cheese Waffle”. Needless to say, the sweet, soft, yummy goodness of their waffles will lift up your spirits. They also carry a variety of sandwiches all created with croissants- either regular or multi grain. These are baked fresh and filled with incredible fillings such as “Chicken …

Lanxang Star – Dracut, MA

I was introduced to this place by my Yoga teacher because it’s in the same little plaza. After a great yoga session we would go to Lanxang Star for a quick dinner. This past weekend I took my babe and our friends to eat dinner there and I wanted to share our experience. This Laotian/Thai restaurant while small, is run efficiently and the ladies behind the counter and in the kitchen always having a smile for their patrons. The aromas engulf you as soon as you walk through the door and the food has been spectacular every time I have gone in or ordered takeout. When we arrived it was quiet and we ordered our appetizers while waiting for our friends. I ordered the Crab Rangoon because this place has one of my favorite renditions of it and the Spicy Chicken Wings which were sweet, spicy and brimming with flavor. Both dishes came out quickly and I really wished there was more of it after we scarfed them down. For our main dishes we ordered …

Twelve Hours – Brighton, MA

Finding a gem in the food world is a thrill for me. Particularly one that is as cute and friendly as this one. Located on a corner in Brighton, MA  Twelve Hours is a lovely little restaurant that has a plethora of menu options to choose from in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We arrived late on Friday night craving something new and we were met with a menu that featured Asian fusion but more experimental than many places I have been. We started off with two appetizers, I had the Blueberry Crab Rangoon’s (yes you read that right, Blueberry) and the Dragon Ball Z appetizer which were fried meatballs. The options are beef or pork- we chose beef. Let me start with the Rangoon, the flavor was stellar. Sweet, tart and perfectly crispy on the outside. This came with a sweet chili sauce on the side for dipping. Superb Close up of the Rangoon’s The Dragon Ball Z appetizer was very good, smokey flavor- good texture. This was served with a red sauce that …

Main Street Gyro – Nashua, NH

“Good food is the foundation of true happiness.” – Auguste Escoffier This food adventure was even more exciting because it was not part of the original plan. My bestie and I were going to go eat Indian food after watching the incredible Beauty and the Beast movie but had to quickly change our plans because it was closed. We were close to Nashua, NH so I figured we could do some searching and find a good spot to eat. We searched and found Main Street Gyro, a total DT Nashua gem. They have an extensive menu including spreads, Gyros (pronounced “yee-ros”), falafel, dinners and side orders. We went with Chicken Gyros, Greek french fries, falafel and also ordered some Loukoumades, a Greek sweet. Our minds were blown; while they have the traditional Gyros with Tzatziki sauce, the Chicken Gyros came with a mustard sauce that was in a different league altogether. The meat was juicy and succulent, the pita warm, soft and full of flavor and the sides were perfection. I haven’t had a Gyro …

Rinato Bistro – Hull, MA

Going random places, even in the winter is something I love to do. It gets you out of the routine many people get into especially during the snow season here in New England when most of us just want to hibernate. I had planned an overnight trip with my hubby and our friends and of course, I found a restaurant I just had to try. There was a Groupon deal going on and I took advantage of that. I am so glad I did because our Friday night dinner was full of palate surprising flavors and decadent dessert. So this is where Rinato Bistro comes in, originally Bridgeman’s its located on a cozy corner off the main road. They have two dining rooms, one upstairs that is fancier and one downstairs that has more of a bar feel to it. The lighting is just right and the second-floor seating gives a wonderful view of the ocean. Our server Tekki was so fantastic, she made us feel welcome and catered to every request that was made. She brought us …

Saigon Noodles – Manchester, NH

On a recent adventure, I stumbled upon this Pho place that literally lit up my day. Unassuming on the outside, you don’t immediately think this is going to be on of the most heart and soul warming lunches you will eat. It was that and more and I wanted to share my experience with you all. When we arrived, the place was empty and our waitress who also seems to be the owner quickly got us menus and served us artichoke tea. Artichoke tea? Yes and on first sip, I was in heaven. She had put fresh ginger in it and somehow the mix made it taste like gingerbread cookies, I don’t know why but it did. Perfect Artichoke tea The menu is small, one page and mostly all Pho choices ranging from vegetable to meat Pho’s, a few appetizers and a few drinks. We decided on the eggrolls, and when they were served to us she said the proper way was to wrap the lettuce around the roll and dip it in the sauce. …

Gormley’s Cafe – Lowell, MA

Gormley’s Cafe reopened under new ownership this past February. I had never been there before and I was anxious to try it, but I kept missing the opportunity until this weekend. Located on E. Merrimack Street in Lowell right outside of downtown, Gormley’s Cafe has a 1950’s diner vibe going with an eclectic mix of artwork; some from local artist like Flourish Cafe and other vintage pieces. The second you walk in you feel welcomed and the feel is an all around clean and fresh atmosphere. After yesterday’s visit with my husband, I also came today with friends because I just can’t get enough of their amazing food. With Joanne and Craig at the helm of this place, they are sure to be around for years to come. What a welcome addition to Lowell; fresh food, just right prices, incredible specials and two lovely individuals that get what Lowell is about. Yesterdays’ meal consisted of the Duck Eggs Benedict with Homefries and a blueberry pancake. The eggs benny consisted of a Portuguese sweet roll, topped with bacon, …
