How to Layer for Spring | Get Rid of that Bulk!

While Spring has been deciding whether to stay or go in New England I have been coming up with some fun looks for  the season which included some bold colors, fun layers and versatile shoes. Over the years my fashion choices have gotten bolder and the options broader. I do my shopping across the board from small local boutiques to large scale stores and then mix and match to my style. Sometimes with winter we get lost in a sea in black and gray and while you can do a lot with those two its fun to blossom during the spring with bright colors and funky patterns.

Layering is a big part of dressing for Spring, often, like in New England we still have very chilly days even though we have “officially” changed seasons. This can sometimes cause some annoyance when figuring out what to wear and how much to layer. Shoes also create an issue because depending on the weather it could go from sunny to rainy instantly and your shoe wear is so important for your overall comfort.

Spring is also a great season to experiment with fun new looks and can be a segue into what you want to wear in the summer. With the looks I experimented with you can easily wear all of these in the summer by changing some of it around and this was super important to me. As soon as warmer weather hits you can take off a blazer or switch from bootie to flat. This easy change makes your wardrobe that much easier to figure out and can leave time for other fun stuff you want to focus on. 🙂 Hope you all enjoy these looks and let me know of the different combinations you come up with!

  1. Dresses, Details & Boots

This look was super easy and can be adapted for literally any season. With a zippered back & incredibly soft material its the perfect dress for when you are on the run and want to be a little extra stylish. I am all about details and have fallen in love with fun patterns and embroidery. The boots were a great compliment to an otherwise simple dress and the delicate pearl detail on the sleeve of the dress was an added bonus. I love sunnies ( sunglasses) – they can literally make an outfit stand out that much more!

2. Denim & Blazers

All the blazers this season are giving me all the feels. With bright, bold colors & fun patterns they can make any look stand out. Paired with a simple tank or tee, denim & some chunky heels this out fit was quickly put together. This blazer is light so it can be worn well into early summer. The mix and matched accesories made the colors stand out that much more and was such a fun addition to this outfit.

  • Blazer: TJ Maxx
  • Light Wash Denim: Target

3. Jumpsuits & Florals

Velvet is all the rage right now, and I am obsessed. This jumpsuit is slip on and can be worn without a shirt for an easy transition into summer. The colors are bright and this play with the floral pattern against the solid jumpsuit is one of my favorites. The blush flats combine comfort and versatility for a great overall look. Something came to mind with this look about not being afraid to play around with texture and to try it out even if you aren’t sure about it at first. I was definitely not sure about this look but once I put it on I fell in love with it!

  • Blue Velour Jumpsuit: Warlene Rene Handmade
  • Floral Top: Humanity Style Boutique
  • Blush Flats: Marshalls

4. Feminine & Edgy

Leather jackets and flowy skirts may not seem to go together but in this case they absolutely did. This outfit was all about contrast and mixing colors, styles and textures together. I have made it a point to not always be matchy-matchy simply because you can put so many color combinations together that work so well. The pop of merlot added just enough color to the outfit and I loved how the heels aren’t black to match the jacket but have just a hint of black in the heel. I loved wearing this outfit and putting each detail together!

  • Pleated Skirt & White Tank: Humanity Style
  • Suede Pumps: Marshalls
  • Faux Leather Moto Jacket: JC Penney
  • Clutch & Choker: Humanity Style

5. Bold Colors

I want to end with this outfit. Its fun, comfortable and again easily able to transition into summer with either sandals and a quick removal of the blazer. This blazer is also super lightweight so it could be worn well into early summer. The key to this outfit was comfort without giving up style. These taupe/blush booties are perfect with a rolled denim cuff and the contrast of the yellow with the black floral tank was super fun to work with as well.

  • Blazer, tank, jeans & belt: Humanity Style
  • Booties: Franco Sarto from Marshalls
  • Vintage Sunnies: Crompton Collective
