Friday Nights! – Lowell, MA

Last night I took part of a new event that Made in Lowell hosted. With food trucks, a beer garden, local vendors, live music, and a surprise appearance by The Party Band it was insane, incredible fun. Held at Point Park which is right next to the Innovation Hub in the Jackson Street area, the crowds showed up ready to support local, eat tons of food and drink some good ale. Vendor appearances included Rosie’s Cafe, Two Stylish Sisters, Flourish Cafe  , Red Antler Apothecary and more. I managed to stop by a few and buy some local made items and see Lowell at it’s finest; supporting small business and all the things that this community is made of. The food truck I managed to get food from was Yumm Bai Food Truck and I had the most amazing Barbecue Pork Buns and Veggie Eggrolls. Super fresh and flavorful! I had a great time at this event walking around the canal, listening to the great music and checking out the vendors who came out. Such a lively evening …

Learning to Contour – Mary Kay Event – Lowell, MA

I was invited to another great event tonight by the wonderful Elaine, Sales Director at Mark Kay. It had been a while since we had collaborated and when she posted this contouring event hosted by herself and Janeigh Grady another Sales Director; I just had to check it out. I say it time and time again, I am not a makeup person but every time I go to a Mary Kay event I am pleasantly surprised at how light the makeup feels on my skin and it doesn’t bother me. This says a lot because I have tried so many different kinds of makeup from all natural to allergy free to whatever else is out there. This evening was a mix of consultants and guests learning to properly contour their own faces or help a client contour. The technique was quite simple and every product can be bought through Mary Kay. With helpful individuals and a wonderful attitude about life and teaching, Elaine is the epitome of grace. She helps every single person but also teaches her …

Memorial Day Weekend Adventures

Something I like to say often is  “Adventuring along”.  Adventure is what you decide it should be, whether you stay local and find something to do you have never done before or you go to a different city and find new things to do; whatever it might be, it is YOUR adventure and this weekend I took that to heart. Rosevelt and I, with our friends decided to start our Saturday by a visit to the Crane Estate located in Ipswich, MA. While we didn’t get to do the house tour because of two weddings happening, they did let us quickly do a drive around and take some beautiful pictures.  Even just taking pictures and looking around at the grounds was gorgeous. You could see the ocean in the distance, and the gardens were beautiful. I fell in love with this place, because I felt like I was transported back in time. I can’t wait to go back and tour the house and have more time to really explore. Nearby is Crane Beach, which will we …

The Crose Nest – Lowell, MA

The Crose Nest . . . a fresh, vibrant shop newly opened at Mill No 5. I had the opportunity to sit down Kinsey the owner and discuss why this store came to fruition and why it was incredibly important for her to create this space where people could come and be themselves and explore what her shop has to offer. Nestled in a corner of the Mill, close by Luna Theater Kinsey sells both her wares and other local hand picked items. When you walk in you have an aroma of herbs and floral scents which are part of another cool part of her shop; the blending of different herbs, teas, and spices to create something for you and you alone. Whether it is a tea blend, a steam blend or a bath blend you can create whatever you set your mind to. While she is there to assist and help you choose she also lets you go on your own path and have a space to create something unique to you and your needs. …

Aaronap Cellars – Westford, MA

I first met Noel  (Aaronap Cellars Winemaker) at Mill No. 5 during their Sunday Farmer’s Market. While I have always enjoyed a glass of wine here and there, this winery intrigued me because it was local and the wine was very good. My actual first taste of the wine was at a Yoga event at Humanity in downtown Lowell, someone had brought the Revolution Red which was a limited run and the flavors really came together for me. This is the first wine where I have tried to decipher the flavors  while drinking it and the aromatics for each wine I have had are simply amazing. Noel agreed to let me come by and see his processes and ask him a few questions on how he came to be in this business, how much the business has grown and what he hopes to accomplish in the future.  (Lucky ME) 🙂 He has been a wine enthusiast for many years, and what started as a hobby bloomed into a full blown wine making business with trips across …

Farmer’s Market at Mill No. 5 – Lowell, MA

Enough cannot be written about all the great vendors that flow through the Farmer’s Market that happens every Sunday at Mill No. 5. Every week or every other week when I go, I find more and more things that I love and that are great to eat, cook with and enjoy. Having a local market where everything from wine to cheese is sold makes my life easier. I can support local, which is very important to me and also have so much to experiment with on a weekly basis when coming with recipes for my blog or just in general. Over the last couple weeks I’ve tried sublime ice cream, decadent wine, farm fresh eggs, flavorful produce and herbs, the perfection that is bread, heavenly cheese and butter, and freshly made pasta. Even with all this, I still haven’t tried everything the Farmer’s Market has to offer. I wanted to share with you all the businesses behind this product and encourage you to try their products if you can. Produce: Mill City Grows Flavorful produce …

Wicked Fun at Wicked Irish Sportsbar & Pub -Lowell, MA

When I heard that Wicked Irish Sportsbar & Pub was being revamped and the menu was going to change I was psyched that I had been asked to check it out. While I will be writing more about them, this first initial test of their food and the ambiance was pretty great. Tobias Marx and Nick Speros, two great chefs in Lowell decided to partner up together and try to make this place, the place for sports and entertainment in Lowell, MA. Here’s to their success because they already have several key points in place to make this place great again and get the crowds it deserves. With new drinks named after sports figures born in Lowell, like the Jon Morris ( gin, cranberry juice, grapefruit squeeze, pineapple juice, soda splash) and the John Miller(Coconut water vodka, coconut water, pineapple juice, lime) a build your own burger setup and some of the best wings I have had this place is set to become a favorite. My burger, Grass-Fed Beef with Cheddar, blue cheese, Jalapeno and …

Lots of Eats Thai Kitchen-N. Andover, MA

Do I eat too much? NEVER. Such is the life of a food blogger and one I will continue living until I try as many different dishes as I possibly can. I love writing my thoughts about food because I feel that in some way food can connect us to the cultures and places where they came from. Lots of Eats out of N. Andover is Thai food inspired by Thai street food. The authenticity that comes across with all their dishes and the flavors behind them, is all simply superb. They have so many different options that it took us longer than usual to decide what we wanted to eat, but I get ahead of myself. When we first arrived the place was brimming with people and since we hadn’t made a reservation we waited at the bar until our table was ready. The hostess and the bartender were both super nice and we only waited about 10-15 minutes. Once seated they were pretty quick to come by and ask us if we wanted …

The Ball-Happy New Year!!

What a night last night! Full of friends, music, bites to eat and champagne it was a night to be remembered. Guests were decked out in Gatsby inspired wear; women in dresses and pearls and men in suits and ties looking incredibly dapper. At an amazing cathedral on Merrimack St in Lowell, MA we spent the night laughing, having fun, taking pictures waiting until the clock struck twelve to ring in the New Year. This event, presented by Made In Lowell was another sold out event following their many successes in 2015. From the venue to the entertainment everything was stellar as usual. In all the blog posts leading up to the event, this is what I imagined it would be and again I am so happy and proud to be a part of a fantastic city. A city that can continue to grow and prosper when organizations like Made In Lowell really push the people around them to be better and strive for better things. Here’s to 2016, enjoy the good times learn from the …
